Saundra Howard-McGee, M.S., CSA

Ms. Saundra Howard-McGee is the Chief Executive Officer of Giving Back Enterprises (GBE), LLC – a for-profit corporation responsible for empowering professional athletes and organizations to “give back” to communities. Ms. McGee is a retired Executive Director from the Detroit Public Schools. Beginning as a classroom teacher, Ms. McGee served the school district for 32 years and for over eighteen years; she was responsible for working with organizations and generating millions of dollars in federal, state, and private grant funding to provide educational services for the children and adults attending Detroit Public Schools. Her knowledge, skill and expertise are very well respected throughout the grant-making community.

Ms. McGee was also responsible for establishing partnerships with philanthropists, colleges, universities, profit and non-profit organizations to provide academic and extracurricular programs for youth and adults. Over the years, Ms. McGee has worked with private foundations and major philanthropic organizations throughout the United States. Saundra has worked to secure grant funding, establish private foundations and has created compliance policies and regulations for major foundations and grant making institutions. Her latest endeavors have been in the areas of philanthropy and endowment development for minority-based organizations. Ms. McGee has served on the board of directors of various community-based organizations and continues to provide training, consulting and technical assistance to profit and non-profit institutions.

Freddie Scott

Freddie Scott has a varied career that spans more than thirty years of team building and professional services marketing encompassing health, technology, education, and entrepreneurship consulting. From 1974 through 1984, Freddie was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Colts and the Detroit Lions. He ended his professional football career with the United States Football League’s (USFL) Los Angeles Express under quarterback Steve Young. In sports, he learned the importance of teamwork, dedication, and persistence as keys to success. Immediately following football, Freddie served as a science teacher in both middle and high school for 3 years in Dade County Public Schools.

Today, Freddie serves in numerous capacities including business development consulting, Board Policy & Governance and leadership coaching and has founded companies that provide appropriate consulting services to positively affect business growth in the education, technology, and health-care industries. Freddie is also an instructor in a School of Entrepreneurship and Business and has contributed to other consulting services firms operating in both the education, technology and import/export industries. He serves as a proud partner of Giving Back Enterprises.

Born in Grady, Arkansas, Freddie graduated valedictorian from Southeast High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas in 1970. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts cum laude degree in 1974 from Amherst College (Amherst, MA) with a major in Black Studies and minor in Pre-Medicine. He continued his pursuit of medicine by completing one year of work towards a doctor of medicine degree (MD) at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine with complementary coursework at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, (MD) and The University of Michigan School of Medicine, Ann Arbor, Michigan. After a full-time three year commitment, in 1995 he graduated from the Word of Faith International Christian Center School of Ministry. He is a licensed minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Freddie was enshrined in the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame in South Bend, Indiana in 2001. He serves the community in myriad ways, including: recently named Trustee with the Board of Trustees Little Rock Preparatory Academy, advocate and supporter of the Arkansas Prostate Cancer Foundation. He was a former spokesperson for Man Up! A Prostate Cancer awareness campaign sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, 100 Black Men of Greater Detroit, Michigan, Department of Community Health and the American Cancer Society on. He served as spokesperson and former Vice Chairman Board of directors, Michigan Association of Public School Academies (MAPSA); former vice-president and treasurer, board of directors, Bradford Academy; member, Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO); board of directors, Generation 2 Generation, Inform Yourself, Inc., Achieve 121 and PJT International; the NFLPA Retired Players Detroit Chapter and the NFL Alumni. He also performs numerous public speaking engagements for church, community and civic groups including board training at national educational conferences.

In 2001, Freddie was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and opted for a radical prostatectomy. He is now cancer-free and attributes survival to his belief in God, prayers, early detection, a quality team of health professionals, support from family and friends and a zeal for knowledge about prostate cancer awareness. Today, he is committed to a concerted effort to spread the word about his experiences and the importance of early screening, health education, strong faith and healthy life styles. He is also a committed advocate of reducing the achievement gap of kids from under-funded resource challenged communities.
